  1. Charles Rosenfield says:

Industry experts claim first hearing of “Cloud Computing” in the early 2000’s, though it was operating long before then, just not to the extent of today’s growth, capabilities and flexibility. It was a competitive advantage for larger companies for maintaining market. The re-branding of infrastructure and applications outsourcing was fueled through the improved security, scalability and realization that information was not required to reside on one’s desktops, mainframes and dedicated servers.

Traditional IT providers’ territories have been invaded by unusual suspects such as Amazon and EBay as a result of overcapacity planning to address peak periods, excellent technology competencies and identification of an under served market of smaller and early stage start –ups companies through IaaS and SaaS by limiting capital investment and acquiring IT delivery proficiencies rapidly at a manageable cost.

This change has accelerated innovation by the traditional outsource providers.
