Energy Company Improves F&A Operations Using Outsourcing

Summary
A global energy and petrochemicals company with employees in 110 countries was delivering Finance and Accounting (F&A) functions through multiple centers in high labor cost cities. The client wanted to consolidate all activities at a central location, to improve efficiency and operate at the lowest possible price.

Client Challenge
With its rapid growth and an intense focus on controlling costs, the client wanted a low cost center with an abundant supply of highly skilled resources, either outsourcing or setting up its own Shared Services Center (SSC). The client entrusted Alsbridge to evaluate both outsourcing and captive Shared Services (SS) options, and help execute the selected model.

How Alsbridge Helped

  • Helped the client develop a business case to pinpoint the total cost of the strategy
  • Presented three options, including outsourcing
  • Conducted a global evaluation of back office personnel, total cost of the base environment, and options for scope, location and configuration
  • Conducted site visits to several countries to locate centers and evaluate providers
Benefit
  • Realized cost savings in two years
  • Significantly upgraded financial accounting skills
  • Enhanced overall productivity through process and technology improvements
