Alsbridge Study Finds Leading Outsourcing Providers Optimistic About Buyer Interest In Outsourcing

Sales in ITO and BPO expected to increase throughout the rest of 2007

Dallas, TX May 8, 2007 - According to a just released report by, Alsbridge, the leading outsourcing providers expect to increase sales in both information technology (ITO) and business process outsourcing (BPO) throughout the rest of 2007. These multinational providers, with annual revenues greater than $1 billion indicate that their typical ITO deal size is more than $50 million while BPO deals tend to be smaller, but still in the in the multi-million dollar range.

“Many companies that are outsourcing today want innovative sourcing solutions that may be different from the traditional options,” says Ben Trowbridge, Alsbridge CEO. “We’ve found that today’s outsourcing providers are offering customized solutions to support a wide-variety of processes. This contributes to their success and buyer satisfaction.”

The study confirms that for BPO solutions this customization happens 45 to 60 percent of the time, whereas in ITO this occurs 15 to 30 percent of the time. BPO Solutions, the study finds are usually more complex and specific, whereas ITO solutions tend to follow best practices and pre-set standards.

The study also finds that the highest areas of growth will be focused in information technology, finance and accounting, and customer relationship management. Many providers that participated in this study said that new areas for outsourcing include marketing, legal and research and they note that healthcare, banking, aerospace, energy and manufacturing are the growing industries where companies are outsourcing.

“With the customization of business processes, as well as growth in new areas, these providers almost unanimously believe they will continue to sell to existing clients in 2007,” says Trowbridge. “That has them optimistic about the future of sourcing, which has struggled over the years to find its niche.”

This study was conducted via the Internet over a three week period using a web survey tool. The aggregate survey results, design, data collection methods and sample information are available with the complete report, which can be purchased from Alsbridge for U.S. $395.
